Salvage title question??

there is a car that i was thinking about buying until i found out that it has a salvaged title. it wasn%26#039;t salvaged because it was in an accident but because someone broke into it and took their seats and their radio. is it still a bad idea to buy it just because it has a salvaged title? they are asking 5,500 and it is a 2006 saturn ion with 26,000 miles. should the price be even lower since it was salvaged??
Salvage title question??
Check with your DMV to see if a clean title can be issued to be able to register the vehicle for street use.
Salvage title question??
That is an awesome deal if that is truly the case. A salvage title will bump up your insurance considerably, plus the resale value of cars with Salvage titles are not that great. Before you buy it, try to run a car fax report and get the details pertaining to the title and then try to investigate by going to DMV. If you still cant find the answer you want, have a certified mechanic perform an inspection in a shop with a lift. That is an absolute must.
Reply:You can run a value on the vehicle through CarFax and see what it would go for with a salvaged title. These types of titles normally don%26#039;t affect insurance coverage, but it is a bit of a hassle to go through not only a certified light/brake inspection but also a DMV inspection.

Good Luck!!
Reply:It has been issued a salvage title because the car had at least 60% of it%26#039;s value lost by damage. There likely was damage to the wiring, I suspect. The price should be lower because of the salvage, the car isn%26#039;t worth as much as a similar 06 Saturn because of the salvage. Should you buy it? Do you have mechanical skills to repair problems that are likely to occur? Myself, I wouldn%26#039;t purchase a salvage, I%26#039;ve far too much experience in titling salvage cars and have seen the problems people endure with these cars. You can find out exactly what happened to make that car a salvage by requesting documents from the DMV that were submitted to title the salvage. It will state what happened, not what someone is telling you happened.
