How much is car insurance for a 19 y.o?

Hey, I know people are going to say I%26#039;m dumb for asking, but I%26#039;m wondering how much car insurance would be for a 19 y/o. I want to get a car, but I need to pay the insurance. I%26#039;m not looking for a great car, so I%26#039;m sure I%26#039;ll pick something insurance friendly.

Also, would it be cheaper if I still had my parents insure the car %26quot;technically%26quot; and paid them the amount?

I hear that usually for teenagers when you go to get car insurance they look at things like the color of your car, the make/model, and even your grades in school because it helps them to guess how %26quot;responsible%26quot; you are. What i%26#039;m trying to get at is I think it varies from person-to-person so I think it%26#039;s hard to answer this question.

im 17...a C and D student I have a 95 camaro Z28 and I pay 110 but its going down to 95 next month just depends.....call your insurance company (im in Ohio with State Farm Auto insurance)

(the color thing is if its a red sports car)
Reply:For automobile insurance the obvious way to get a fantastic rate is do a rate comparison on car policies. Make sure that you pick similar policies with the same limits, auto model, location, etc so that all options are a good comparison.

What I usually recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.lowratetoday.com since they have top name insurers and can give several quotes on auto insurance polices.
Reply:if you%26#039;re still living at home, you and your car can be added to your parents insurance policy. it%26#039;s going to be the cheapest way to go as long as everyone has a good driving record. there will be multi-car discounts.

as for the price...it depends on the car year, make, and model not to mention the company and the type of coverage you want. without knowing the car and your driving record, it would be almost impossible to even start to guess the amount. some insurance companies even run credit reports.
Reply:It all depends on what year car you get and who%26#039;s name its under. If you get a new car for example an 08 and its under your parents name its going to be around $250-300/every 3 months...if its an 08 and under your name its going to be like $1500 every 6 months...so def try and get your parents to put the car under their name!

If you get a car thats 10 years or older you could put it under your name but the insurance might still be high because you are young!

Good luck!

and before you buy a car get the VIN number and then call your insurance company to get a quote thats what I did!
Reply:It%26#039;s really hard to give you a dollar amount because insurance is really different for everyone. Insurance companies look at a number of different factors when determining your premium such as age, location, gender, marital status, credit history, type of vehicle driven, miles driven per year, and driving record. The best car to drive for somone your age is one that is 5-7 years old and equipped with good safety features. I would suggest something like a 2002 Honda Civic because it%26#039;s very reasonable to insure.

Yes, you definitely want to be on your parent%26#039;s insurance policy if you can. When I was your age, I bought a new car and tried to get on my own policy. The insurance company wanted to charge me $260 a month and only charged me $150 to be on my mom%26#039;s policy.

The best way to find cheap insurance is to do your research. Doing quotes online does not really take that long (about 3-5 minutes) and is much more convenient than actually calling an insurance company. If you get a few quotes online you can get an idea of which company and type of car is the most affordable for you. The site below is a great resource because it allows you to compare quotes for all of the insurance companies in your area so you can find the cheapest rate possible.

Good Luck! Hope this helped!
