I was in a car accident over 2 years ago and recently received a summons that I'm being sued..?

for personal injury by the other party. Isn%26#039;t this something that my insurance company should take care of? I remember that my insurance company didnt pay out anything to the other party because the police report showed that I wasn%26#039;t at fault. Should I still hire a lawyer or just let my insurance company deal with this?

Let your insurance company deal with it, that is what you pay car insurance for. Get the summons to them ASAP and they will put a law firm on retainer, who will contact you very soon.

And don%26#039;t worry about it, especially when it was found not to be your fault.

I would certainly contact my insurance company on this. I think they%26#039;re supposed to defend you.

Good luck.
Reply:Contact your insurance company, they will supply representation for you.
Reply:Call your insurance and a Attorney for advice.I hope you still have a copy of the police report
Reply:They generally wait until the statute of limitations is about to expire before filing suit.

Turn it over to your insurance. They%26#039;ll tell you if you need to hire your own attorney, but odds are you won%26#039;t need to.

The only reason you%26#039;d need your own attorney is if it appeared the suit might be settled for more than you are insured for. Based on information you%26#039;ve provided, this seems unlikely.
Reply:if the police report said you werent at afult then why is this even a problem? I%26#039;d talk to your insurance company first, then decide wether you need a lawyer or not...
Reply:Take the summons to your insurance company right away. They will handle it. You only have a certain amount of time to answer the summons.
Reply:Contact the adjuster that handled your claim first thing tomorrow!!!!

They will need you to give them the suit papers and they will need to know when and how you were served.

The law suit is against YOU. Not your insurance company.

However, your insurance company will hire an attorney to defend you (per the terms of your policy) and they will pay his bill.

You have to cooperate with them in the defense of the law suit.

The insurance company has a limited amount of time to get an answer on file and the clock starts running when you get served. That%26#039;s why time is of the essence. If you can not remember who your adjuster is -- take the papers to your agent or your claims office as soon as they open tomorrow.
Reply:Get the police report. That is all you need.
Reply:You bought insurance for exactly this reason. Let your insurance company handle it. They have dozens of lawyers that will defend you. Call your insurance company ASAP !
